We Kill Bike Thieves is not about a call to violence. It is an expression of our collective frustration and grief. We come from places of trauma and struggle, and we are all hungry because of it. Dishonesty hurts us; we hurt those who are dishonest. We fight our neighbours for what little we can carve out as "ours"—from corners to rooftops. The city makes us animals, and the hunger is insatiable like an Ouroboros. We cannot always elevate our communities from these self-perpetuating loops, especially when the systems are designed to disparage us, but we can filter our environment through new lenses. We Kill Bike Thieves is about ownership of what little we can hold on to as "ours"—something as simple as a bike. With all the static out there, some of us choose to Move In Silence. After all, the Equalizer is always behind you.
